Are Americans the most self centered people in the world?

I have lived in Canada, Russia, Sweden, Australia and Egypt before, and i am now living for a couple of years in the US and i must say that the arrogance and bigotry that i have seen in most Americans, i have never seen nowhere else. Why is that? USA is not the world, why so many Americans fail to realize that simple fact?
